New Paints Have Arrived!

My initial complement of paints from the Army Painter Starter Set was just that, a good start. Unless I couldn't get into the hobby, the 10 bottles wouldn't be enough.

After doing some research on which colors to expand to, I found the Reaper triads system. It's a simple 3-color scheme of their paints that are meant to be a base, shade, and highlight for each other.

Their paints come in dropper bottles, so that's a plus. And they are roughly the same price as Army Painter bottles, just a little bit extra. Free shipping at $40 from their site, and it includes a free mini as a bonus!

Arcadia Quest Heroes: Grom & Kanga

The new paints finally arrived, including a rattlecan of Army Painter Barbarian Flesh primer to make faces & skin easier, as well as a bottle of AP Soft Tone to compliment the Strong Tone in the Starter Kit.

Arcadia Quest Heroes: Wisp, Johan, & Maya

This was my first batch of minis. It had been roughly 5-6 years since I last painted my Warhammer 40K armies. COVID-19 hit in the spring, and I decided I would pick up the hobby again to fill some free time from the gyms closing. I still had my box of paints, mostly hobby store brand acrylics, but a few Citadel pots. Unfortunately, most of them were dried out. I tried to revive them, but to no avail. After taking inventory, I was short on many basic colors and found the Army Painter Warpaints Starter box online (and still in stock). Having never used any other brand than Citadel, I was unfamiliar with them and felt like a heretic. But I wasn't happy with the GW pots, so this affordable option seemed like a great starting point.

I had the original Kickstarter edition of Arcadia Quest sitting unpainted in my collection for nearly six years. In that time, I had managed to get it to the table one single time for the intro scenario, but never again.Without a consistent gaming group, campaign games are a tall ask. But at the very least, I enjoyed the mini sculpts and the idea of the game, so it was time to get painting.
