Scarlet
Big thanks to the CMON painting Arcadia Quest painting tutorial by Miniature Mistress on YouTube [link] for Scarlet. I am thrilled with her cloak and her hair. The purple-pink hair stands out beautifully, especially against the blondes and brunettes of the other heroes. The direction of the eyes compliments the sly smile perfectly. Great sculpt, one of my favorites! This mini turned out amazing.
The armor was my first gold NMM. For reference, here's the color steps I used.
Gold Non-Metallic Metal Recipe
- Reaper Muddy Brown
- Vallejo Game Color Terracotta
- Army Painter Leather Brown
- Army Painter Daemonic Yellow
- Army Painter Moon Dust
I also did silver NMM for her blade. I was exhausted and ready to be done with the model when I got to this last part, so my first attempt was a bit lack-luster. I did a blue glaze over the finished silver, but I put it on a little too heavy. See the pictures below.
I have since painted over the blade and taken the blue tint out. Still not thrilled with it, a happy medium between the two would be my preference. But too many minis remaining, time to move on!
Zazu
With Zazu, there was a lot of tiny details. Maybe I saved him for last intentionally. All of the tiny white and red triangles on the top and bottom of his robes weren't as difficult as I expected, and a wash of Soft Tone filled in the lines perfectly.
The first set of pictures I painted over his necklace beads with a high gloss varnish. I didn't like it for Sheldon, and I still didn't like it on Zazu, so matte it is.
I'd been avoid metallic paints for the last few miniatures, but decided to use Gold it in small amounts to accent his ornate jewelry. I really got Oberyn Martell vibes from this guy, and I went with it. I did stick with NMM for the blade of his spear, and I can say this was my best attempt yet.
There isn't a final set of pictures with his base black. I'll have to remember to add those.
